The 1837 Society is a registered charity whose aim is to promote the development of the students of the Queen's College, Oxford through the provision of sports facilities.
Originally founded in 1997 by old members of QCBC, The 1837 Society has contributed greatly towards the boat club in recent years including the purchase of new boat, cox boxes and subsidising coaching expenditure of the club.
The 1837 society also endeavours to keep old members more in touch with current events in QCBC, by means of a regular newsletter and old members' events; these have recently included a post-Eights cruise down the Isis, a QCBC 175th anniversary dinner held at Leander Club at Henley-on-Thames, and a 60th anniversary dinner in college to celebrate headship in 1957.
Current college members and old members alike are encouraged to support the society by applying for membership, and the latest newsletter from 1837 Society (published twice yearly).
